She obtained her Bachelor of Science in nursing in 2001 from the University of Louisville and worked at Norton Children's Hospital for seven years in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. She went on to complete her master in Nursing in 2009 in pediatric primary care from Northern Kentucky University. She has been in practice as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for over 10 years.
